The future of Crypto Media
Welcome to the future of Crypto and Blockchain News and Media. Crypto Insider is proud to announce that our official global launch will be on Monday, September 24th, 2018. The Cryptoverse will never be the same again.
In order to ensure our success, we have gathered only the best journalists, writers, bloggers, and influencers in the crypto space. Our CEO and Founder JF Hotte has spent years working behind the scenes as an investor and owner of multiple crypto businesses, and now he has grand plans for Crypto Insider. In this quest for qualitative supremacy, the ambitious assembly of Insiders are more than willing to deliver high-quality content.
“The Crypto-space is in need of an unbiased news source, and we are going to be that source!”
– JF Hotte
The Need Today
Today, there’s an abundance of fake news being spread at an unprecedentedly fast rate, and as so it has become more important than ever to check the source and validity of the media we consume. When reading articles related to the crypto and blockchain space, the community should be even more cautious for reasons extending to a potential investment portfolio and therein their financial future. Just a couple of weeks prior to our launch, mainstream media reported that Goldman Sachs would scrap their plans for a Bitcoin trading desk, only to have the claim dismissed a couple of days later.
Crypto websites don’t tend to be much better either, as the race for clicks and sensationalism usually legitimates reckless negligence in regards to ethics. While this space should be more supportive and objective in regards to the projects (which bring billions in investments), we often see textbook cases of FUD in the shape of either misleading articles and headlines or paid advertisements that aren’t clearly advertised as such.
After years of frustrations, the team behind Crypto Insider has decided that enough is enough, and we set out to develop a platform for true journalists. We’re here to take the stage and provide in-depth, thoughtful pieces about the most important aspects of the industry today.
Nine well-known figures from the blockchain space were asked the same question – “What do you expect from a new cryptocurrency news website, and what would you like to see more of?”:
Elizabeth Stark, Co-Founder of Lightning Labs: “Accurate coverage of the technology”
Emin Gun Sirer, Cypherpunk, and Professor at Cornell University: “There are very few press outlets that aren’t captured by some special interest group. So that’s the most important issue for most of us: a trustworthy outlet. The topics that I’d like to see covered better are the tech fundamentals. We have too much focus on price, not enough on tech development.”
Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin: “Don’t peddle ICOs and scams. No paid articles. Focus on the tech and adoption, and not the price. And lastly, report things that are researched, don’t just lazily write an article based on a tweet.”
Riccardo “Fluffy Pony” Spagni, Lead Developer of Monero and Co-Founder of Tari: “I think the biggest thing I expect is a guide to the cryptocurrencies and the technologies that I am able to refer n00bs to. People need to understand why Ripple is a bad investment, for example, and why Bitcoin has gotten to where it has. Journalists and news outlets *are* the oracles, so they have to start acting like it.”
Samson “Excellion” Mow, CSO at Blockstream and CEO of Pixelmatic: “I expect that crypto media would do far more research into topics rather than just do reporting on the surface. There is a wealth of public information on various subjects spread across Twitter, the Bitcoin dev mailing list, and forums. We also have a lot of empirical data available that would counter a lot of the FUD – all it takes is good old fashioned research.
I’d like to see more deep dives on various subjects with better historical references and data. For example, if reporting on some new scaling debate, relate it back to XT, Classic, or any of the earlier attempts to attack the protocol. If this isn’t done, the past will keep repeating itself.”
Whale Panda, Who Unlike The Corporate Suits Is Wise: “More focus on tech, no ICO shills, no paid press releases, and no fluff pieces.”
Naomi Brockwell, Blockchain Journalist, Broadcaster, and Emcee: “I guess I just expect to be kept up to date with current news that is explained in a clear way.”
Alex Mashinsky, VoIP Pioneer and Founder of Celsius Network: “Media needs to help separate the projects that are here to help drive decentralization and build a community that is using a public blockchain from projects that just make a profit taking advantage of the inefficiencies and challenges the industry is facing as it scales.”
Giacomo Zucco, Supremo at BHBnetwork and Bitcoin Maximalist: “I expect at least one media that’s focused on Bitcoin and not scam coins. Unfortunately, there isn’t such a thing, since even Bitcoin Magazine has gone scammy.”
The Need for Excellence as a Habit
In “Nicomachean Ethics”, Aristotle described excellence as a habit which gets perpetuated through hard work. It’s not something that you acquire through high education and possess for the rest of your life, and definitely not an accident which occurs to “regular” folks once in a blue moon.
In the crypto news media, excellence is about constantly delivering qualitative pieces and adding the deontology of insightful journalism to the blockchain layer. With Crypto Insider, excellence is developed article by article and flourishes right in front of your information-hungry eyes. We want to be the very best that we can be, but also become so competitive that we reach the very top of the crypto media.
That is why we invite you to read our articles and join us in our continuous growth towards a greater degree of excellence. We begin with a commitment to insightful and qualitative journalism, and our pledge is that we will continue to develop this behavior with no end point in sight.
Welcome to Crypto Insider!
